Wordle
"Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends." Source: www.wordle.net.

You may have some fun with this site! You can create word clouds from famous speeches. Find an interesting speech, copy it, and then paste it into Wordle.

You can also copy and paste entire books into Wordle. You can choose from over 28,000 online books - for FREE! - at Project Gutenberg.

Another Wordle use - Have students paste into Wordle their own writing - poetry, essays, song lyrics. A POW Moment!

Using a Wordle Screen Shot -

Students (and you) can take a screen shot of the Wordle they've created and insert it into wikis or other multimedia projects.

Remember how to take a screen shot? Hold down the following keys at the same time - COMMAND-SHIFT-4 - your mouse now appears as a little cross-hairs mark - select (click and drag) the portion of the screen of which you would like to take a picture - then release - PICTURE TAKEN! - Now look for the jpeg on your desktop - you may not insert it where you would like!! Have a question about how to do this? Please ask!
