My goal is to come up with ways to utilize technology that will make reading literature more exciting for the students.

What is an area where you'd like to work on personal growth?
  • Getting strategies/ideas that are outside of my comfort zone.
  • Learning how to organize different units and chapters in Studywiz.
What is an area of student achievement where you'd like to focus?
  • ????
During DLSI I-IV you've had a chance to explore many tools. How will you use these to support learning in your classroom?
  • Studywiz - I think this can be utilized to help facilitate group projects and/or shared learning.
  • Podcasting - Podcasts could be an excellent utility in terms of learning and understanding material.
  • Wikis and Blogs - This could force students to consider an 'authentic audience' as opposed to just me.
  • Del.icio.us - Sharing resources with classmates might improve interpersonal relationships within a classroom.
  • iLife - Students can express their creativity by using these tools.
  • iWork - ???

Now, record your goals for this week:

Personal Growth Goal: Gaining new ideas to teach the required novels in English I.

Student Achievement Goal: Hopefully they will gain more of an appreciation for classic literature.

How would this assist in meeting my personal goal? How would this assist in meeting my student achievement goal?
Studywiz
using this as a way to foster interclass communication.

Podcasting
listening to podcasts that are pertinent to what we are studying.
listening or creating a podcast might peak their interest more.
Wikis and Blogs
this would provide an exciting forum for discussion.
sharing ideas and thoughts as a way to hopefully improve comprehension.
Del.icio.us
a good way to organize outside resources.
a simple way to keep track of links that I share with them throughout the school year.
iLife

multimedia tools like these could really change the way they approach book reports and class projects.
iWork
